The Grace of God by Andy Stanley

WOW!  What an awesome book!  We all love it  when someone extends grace to us but this book really opened my eyes to how I should be extending grace to others.  It's hard when you see so much injustice in the world but when Andy Stanley takes well known stories from the Bible and shows you just how much grace God gives, well, it really made me take stock of my own life.  Really, how much grace to I extend to that guy down the road who just got out of prison?  How much grace to I show to that person who really hurt me by what they said?  Andy Stanley takes these biblical events and explains them in a new light.  Grace, how much God loves each and every one of us who are so undeserving.  I highly recommend this book to all my friends.  We are told that as Christians we should strive to live a life worthy of Jesus Christ.  Well, this book will open your eyes to an area where I know that I've been lacking in.  Grace, I am so undeserving but God continues to bless me every day!

God's Love Letters to You by Dr. Larry Crabb

A love letter from God 'just for me'?  Who doesn't like receiving love letters!  I know I do!  Reading just how much someone thinks of you and loves you makes my heart swell and makes me feel that I really matter!  The Bible is God's love letter to each and every one of us!  This little companion book 'God's Love Letters to You' by Dr. Larry Crabb is a wonderful little devotional that can brighten anyone's day!  We all need reminders of just how big God's love is and what better way to deepen our relationship with the One who loves us the most by reading his Love Letters to us!  Dr. Larry Crabb has done an outstanding job at putting this devotional together.  Based on his '66 Love Letters' devotional it really brings to light the love of God for each and every one of us.  I really enjoyed reading this book along with my daily Bible reading.  It has helped to bring a deeper understanding to how much God loves me and has helped to deepen my personal relationship with my Creator, my Protector, the One who Loves me!

The Final Summit by Andy Andrews

What can I say..I've got to 'do something'!  So, here I go.......
The Final Summit by Andy Andrews is a fantastic book that I highly recommend!  It takes you on a journey where David meets with many significant historical people like Winston Churchill, George Washington Carver to Joan of Arc.  They all work together on a quest to find the one principle that will save humanity.  The story is humorous and spellbinding.  It's very easy to read and I was captivated  from the first chapter.  It a story that continues on from 'The Travelers Gift' by the same author.   I look forward to reading more books by Andy Andrews as I find his story riveting, full of mystery and suspense with something to learn with principles that are life changing.  This is a book where history comes alive and keeps you wanting more when you get to the end of the story.

Girl Talk with God

I got the book Girl Talk with God by Susie Shellenberger for my daughter.  She is a big fan of Susie Mag so when I saw this book I knew she would really like it!  This book is about talking with God the same way you would your best friend!  After all, God is our best friend who has our best interest at heart!  There are many topics that teen girls face that are discussed in this book.  The discussions are open and honest communication with so many answers to difficult situations that girls will eventually come across.  Like cutting to getting married, divorce to eating disorders.  This opens up discussions between moms and daughters and gives daughters an insight into situations before they happen and ways to avoid them.  Talking with God is the best place to go for advice, pray and delve into His word and He will lead you all the days of your life.  Difficulties happen every day, so who better to discuss them with than God.  After all, He knows us better than anyone else could ever know us!

My first book review!

I've just finished reading INVASION a C.H.A.O.S. novel by Jon S. Lewis.  This is a very well written and interesting book for teens but I highly enjoyed it too.   It has tragedy and is chock full of mystery!  The characters are so real and easy to relate to.  It brings si-fi, aliens and other worlds to life through the comparison of comic books and reality. When Colt moves to Arizona to live with his grandfather he gets wrapped up in an unbelievable scheme in trying to expose a secret mind-control program and tries to find out what really happened to his parents.
Lewis does a great job in making his characters real, even the not so real aliens.  He makes it seem so real that you wonder about the possibilities of this actually happening in our own world.  The author grasped my attention right from the beginning of the novel.  He carried me through the ups and downs with twists and turns with each new chapter.  I finished the book wanting more and look forward to another C.H.A.O.S. mystery!
My teen daughter read the book before I did and she really enjoyed it.  She said 'It's so great!  You really have to read this mom!'.  I don't normally read books aimed at a younger generation or ones that my daughter usually enjoys but I am glad I read this one.  It's an excellent book and I highly recommend it to teens and to those of you looking for a little bit of escape from the every day life!
